Yolanda Fernández Montes

Yolanda received a master's degree in mining engineering from Universidad de Oviedo and complementary training in auditing and top management from INSEAD. 

With more than 30 years of experience in the energy sector, she currently serves as Director of Environment, Sustainability, Innovation, and Climate Change for the EDP Group in Spain, including stakeholder management responsibilities. Additionally, she serves as a board member of EDP Ventures Spain, and on the Sustainability, Innovation, and Stakeholder Management committees of the EDP Group.

Throughout her career, she has held various responsibilities, including energy planning, financial forecasting, asset valuation, energy trading, B2B back-office operations, IT commercial development, and serving as Chief of Staff to the President, among other duties. She has actively participated in regulating the electricity sector. Among her accomplishments, she led negotiations to implement emissions trading, modify power plants to comply with European environmental standards, and launch EDP's innovation initiatives in Spain. She also developed a circular economy strategy, a climate change adaptation plan, and implemented EDP's stakeholder management approach in Spain.

Among her various affiliations, she sits on the Strategic Committee of the Basque Ecodesign Center, the Advisory Committee of the Asturias Startup Fund, the Advisory Board of the Chair of Energy and Poverty of the Institute of Technological Research of Comillas, the Innovation and Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition Commissions of CEOE, and the Circular Economy Commission of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce.
