Biologist and Biochemist by training, obtained a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Barcelona. His research was developed at Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) and the Institute of Research in Biomedicine of Barcelona (IRB Barcelona). He is currently an EMBA candidate at ESADE.

Francisco jumped into the industry sector as Business Development Manager of ReadyCell, where he fostered and managed partnerships with clients and collaborators in the USA, Europe, Jordania, China and India, in the field of preclinical drug development. He then joined the Institute of Biomedical Research of Bellvitge (IDIBELL) Strategy department where he led the Knowledge Management and Quality Unit, where he set up the center's scientific career plan, scientific performance assessment and several quality management certifications.

He then moved towards a role in Innovation at “La Caixa” Foundation, where he was part of the CaixaImpulse program as Innovation Manager. This position included projects assessment, projects follow up in their valorization plans and the operative management of the funding framework. After “La Caixa”, Francisco joined the Center for Genomic Regulation as Technology Transfer Manager and Industry Liaison. Where he provided support to the center projects along all the value chain, from strategic advice, business development, training to IP strategy definition.

Recently, Francisco joined Owkin and acts as Partnership Director for Southern Europe. In this role, he coordinates a team promoting and managing public-private collaborations to fuel Owkin’s AI platform in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece and Israel.

He complemented his main activities with different part time roles as Associate Professor at the International University of Catalonia (UIC, 2018-2023), EIT Health Catapult Evaluator (2020-2022) and Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) Mentor (2021-now). He also acted as advisor in several biomedical projects for the CRG, Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência and IDIAP Jordi Gol.
