Bruno Vandermeulen is an independent Belgian IP lawyer practising in Brussels. He worked for 25 years in the field of multi-jurisdictional patent litigation and technology transfer as partner in an international law firm. Since 2019 he is Senior IP Director with the Impact Licensing Initiative, a Belgian non-profit organisation that assists companies and knowledge institutions in licensing their intellectual property for societal purposes according to the United Nations’ SDG’s.

Bruno is expert for the Belgian Council for Intellectual Property, a WIPO “List of Neutrals” Arbitrator, Vice-Chair of the Disciplinary Commission of the Belgian Patent Attorney Institute, and a certified mediator in civil and commercial matters. He is a member of the Licensing Executive Society International (LESI) and publishes regularly in IP journals.


Bruno teaches intellectual property law in the pharmaceutical sector via a blended online course produced by the Paul Janssen Futurelab at the University of Leiden.
